Arctic Air AB

Where the Roads End, Arctic Air Begins

Arctic Air AB is a helicopter operator based in the mountains of Swedish Lapland, with bases in Klimpfjäll, Vuoggatjålme and Tärnaby/Hemavan. Active in the region since the late 1970s, the company has built extensive experience in mountain flying and a deep understanding of the landscape in which it operates.

The business began with seaplanes, but since the 1990s has focused exclusively on helicopters. Today, Arctic Air operates seven helicopters across its three bases, carrying out a broad range of missions for private individuals, businesses, and public services. The company’s bases provide access to some of northern Sweden’s most remote mountain regions. Klimpfjäll serves southern Lapland and northern Jämtland, while Vuoggatjålme provides access to the Arjeplog mountains. The Tärnaby/Hemavan base serves large parts of the Västerbotten mountain region, including Vindelfjällen.

Over the years, Arctic Air has transported anglers, hunters, hikers, and many others into areas with no road access. Alongside passenger transport and sightseeing flights, the company undertakes cargo transport, complex external load operations and specialist aerial work. Assignments include power line inspections and fault tracing, mast construction, aerial photography, wildlife and forestry management, reindeer herding, and firefighting. This variety of work calls for flexibility, specialist skills, and a clear understanding of each assignment’s demands. Whether transporting passengers to a remote mountain destination or supporting a technical lifting operation, Arctic Air draws on decades of flying experience and detailed local knowledge. By connecting remote locations with the people, equipment, and services they need, the company supports both everyday activities and essential operations across the region. Its helicopters provide access where roads end and other means of transport can no longer reach. Arctic Air AB combines a long tradition of mountain flying with the versatility and expertise needed to meet the diverse demands of northern Sweden.
